Spider-Woman 50th Anniversary Special #1: A Double Celebration of Jessica Drew

Marvel Comics is marking a major milestone for one of its most iconic heroines. The upcoming Spider-Woman 50th Anniversary Special #1 honors five decades of Jessica Drew, the character known as the Dark Angel. This special issue promises a blend of nostalgia and forward-looking storytelling, appealing to both longtime fans and newcomers.

A Detective Story in Los Angeles

Acclaimed writer Ann Nocenti returns to Spider-Woman, setting her story in the sun-soaked streets of Los Angeles. Nocenti, known for her work on the character in the 1980s, crafts a detective tale that harkens back to the series' roots. The narrative is described as a mystery that will keep readers on the edge of their seats, showcasing Jessica Drew's skills as both a superhero and a private investigator.

In addition to Nocenti's contribution, Dan Watters offers a glimpse into Jessica Drew's future. Watters' story is described as spine-tingling, exploring what lies ahead for the character. This dual approach—one story rooted in the past, another in the future—provides a comprehensive look at Spider-Woman's enduring legacy.

The issue features artwork by a talented team, including Andrea Broccardo, Stefano Raffaele, Mattia Iacono, and Neeraj Menon, with a cover by Olivier Coipel. The visual style is expected to complement the diverse storytelling, bringing both the gritty detective work and futuristic elements to life.

With a page count of 32 pages, this special issue is packed with content. It is scheduled for release on September 2, 2026. Whether you've been a fan since day one or are just discovering Spider-Woman, this anniversary special aims to offer something for everyone, celebrating the character's rich history and promising future.
