Archetypes Festival is my first original project, a fully hand-drawn 2D game. The adventure focuses on battles against powerful bosses, but it also features platforming sections, plenty of collectible items and characters to interact with, all tied together by a unique and captivating story.Setting The setting is absurd and surreal: an aseptic void embraces the domains of the archetypes, places that reflect the identity of their rulers. Along your path, you’ll encounter flames, spikes and chasms, but also balloons and trampolines. In these locations, Miss M. will have to solve a mysterious kidnapping case.GameplayThe gameplay is based on a linear sequence of platforming stages, each culminating in one or more boss fights.
During the platforming sections, players need to carefully time their movement and jumps to avoid various obstacles, some following fixed patterns and others being hurled at the player. There are also elements that allow players to extend the reach of their jumps.During boss fights, players can use a frontal attack and an upward attack to hit enemies at close range. These attacks can also redirect projectiles thrown by opponents, allowing the player to defend themselves and deal long-range damage.There are three types of damage: wound, burn, and infection.
Each attack received or inflicted causes one of these three types of damage until the lethal threshold is reached, resulting in the death of the player or the opponent.Players can collect various items, some found on the map and others given by characters after a dialogue.
